It Started With a Love of Coffee and Adventure

Platypus Coffee Co. started with a simple idea — we wanted to build something of our own.

We’d talked for years about having a little business together. We wanted something that could give us more freedom and flexibility as a family, while creating something we could build together and be genuinely proud of.

Lauren had always enjoyed coffee, while I was a little later to the party. I only really started drinking it around three years ago, but before long we had a coffee machine at home and I’d developed a real interest in making a great cup of coffee.

The name Platypus goes back much further. Our narrowboat became Platypus on the Water, and when I built our campervan it naturally became Platypus on the Road. So when our next adventure involved a coffee trailer, there really could only be one name.

We looked at several trailers before finding ours, and it was easily the best of the bunch. There was just one slight problem — we didn’t have a tow bar! Thankfully, the lovely guy we bought it from even delivered it for us.

And so Platypus Coffee Co. was born — another chapter in our Platypus adventures, this time built around proper coffee, friendly service and meeting great people wherever we park.
